Question: What is the average weight of a fashion model -vs- the weight of the average american women?
Hi. I am doing a persuasive essay on how women/teen girls are effected by ads in magazines. Mainly on how skinny the models are -vs- how women/teen girls react to that. So.. if you could tell me the average weight for a fashion model and a average american women that would be great! Thank you so much- greatly appreciated!!

I was wondering about this myself so I did a little research for you. There were a lot of different results from various surveys for the average weight of an American woman, but the most reliable looking one I found said that the average American woman is 5’3.8″ tall and weighs about 162.9lb. On the other hand, the average American model is 5’11″ and weighs 117lb.
In terms of BMI, that makes the average American model underweight by about 2.2 points, and the average American woman overweight by about 3.9 points.
